Seasons Greetings From Stop the Hate

2009 has been an exciting year for Stop the Hate and we wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for your support and interest in helping to make campuses around the country a safe place for students to learn and for faculty and staff to work.

In October of this year, we realized one of our goals when President Obama signed "Matthew Shepard and James Bryd Jr. Act" into law.  This bill expanded federal hate crimes law to be inclusive of sexual orientation, gender identity, and disabilities as well as redefined a hate crime to include criminal acts of physical violence.

In 2009, Stop the Hate became part of Campus Pride Incorporated.  We simplified the process for hosting the 3-day Training For Trainers Program on your campus and now offer two convenient options for bringing Stop the Hate to your community.  We launched our new website and now offer a Trainers’ Action Center. Stop the Hate is now offered annually on the east coast at the University of North Carolina – Charlotte and at the Napa Valley College Criminal Justice Training Center.  The next 3-day training for trainers program is scheduled for March 29 through 31, 2010 in Napa. Click here to learn more.

We also just launched our online store and offer a variety of books, postcards, and logo items from Stop the Hate and Campus Pride. Click here to visit the store.  In addition, we invite you to consider making a fully tax deductible donation that will help us expand our programming in 2010.  Stop the Hate is a program offered by Campus Pride Incorporated, a 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profit organization. Finally, we would like to express our gratitude for the wonderful support we receive from our educational partners.  Stop the Hate would not be successful without the participation, expertise, and dedication of the following organizations.

Campus Pride
The Criminal Justice Training Center at Napa Valley College
The Anti-Defamation League
The Center For The Prevention of Hate Violence
The Matthew Shepard Foundation
The Southern Poverty Law Center
The Wilbron Institute

On behalf of all of us at Stop the Hate,
we wish you a peaceful and safe holiday season.

Shane Windmeyer, Executive Director and Greg Miraglia, National Program Coordinator.
