That’s one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard.

Larry seems like a decent guy, he’s just uber religious. About the Bible…
we have to our neighbors possessions and wives to continue this
    capitalistic society we’re living in. “He’s got a 50 inch TV, that’s
    nice…now I want a 60 inch TV.”

I don’t get why Jesus had to die for our sins & open the gates of heaven.
Then other martyrs suffered in vain? How does blessing someone get them
favor with god? Why were some things okay to god in ancient history but are
evil now? God changes his mind a lot and cares for every new generation
more than the last. We have better medicine, transportation, communication,
freedom, human rights, life spans, laws, etc. Prayer changes god’s will?

AP didn’t ban YOU from using the term. They’re just deciding what terms
they will use in their articles, so that they keep a consistent style. It’s
a self-ban. Your protest against a self-ban is analogous to what the boys
are describing, in which reactionaries actively force their viewpoints on
others, but frame it in terms of merely “defending” themselves. You are
free to use that term, just as you are free NOT to enter into a same-sex
marriage. And I’m denying your app to intern for me.

I just feel bad for people like Larry, because he does sound like a legit

The old and new testaments are by no means historical documents, based off
of oral composition written down decades, if not centuries, after the
    events they profess to tell.

I don’t see why it would be that complicated. Two people, not related, who
are of age, who both have the psychological capability to enter a contract.
It’s the same thing as heterosexual marriage, just different body parts.

USA has 300 million people but only the opinion of 9 matters.

We have until March 2015 to help them take a decision.

If someone tell you that gay marriage is not the same than gay-incest
marriage, ask them, what reasons do you have to deny the constitutional
right of marriage to 2 adult that are a Dad and a Son?*_____________*

  19. sc0tt10
    April 27, 2015 at 6:46 am

From what I can tell he was only talking about the potential legal
ramifications of same-sex marriage, not comparing it to incest but rather
stating his view that it may lead to people seeking to pass on their estate
to their children in full by marrying them, thereby bypassing wills and the
    government etc.
His closing statement that he wishes anyone in love with another person
“the best of luck” aids me in believing that no malice was intended in his
    ultimately somewhat rambling argument.

He’s saying marriage may be becoming something other than a union of love
and just a political act. People getting married just because or rather
insisting on it for the sheer right of it, not out of love for the other
person. I totally see his point and do not think he’s bringing religion
into this at all. It’s like people voting just because even if they have no
idea who they are voting for or really care, just because they can and feel
    they ought to.

  23. Halick
    April 27, 2015 at 4:59 am

I think I see what he’s getting at, and it is an interesting point.
Not to take sides or anything I would like to point out that there is
certain economical and societal advantages to marry in the USA as opposed
to the state civil union, and certainly in other parts of the world, which
    complicates the matter.

Now religion means jack to me, but I can understand following tradition,
then again where does the line between acceptance of tradition and refusal
    of service based on bigotry?

I don’t know, in a perfect world, where anyone gets the same respect and
gets treated equally and has access to the exact same level of standard in
these cases, I could be okay if churches wouldn’t acknowledge certain
unions since there are just as good alternatives, but as it is Church is so
ingrained in society and limits things that it shouldn’t.

Will you over reactionary Libs. Calm the Fuck down! Jeremy didn’t say that
Same Sex marriage. Was a bad idea! He simply suggested that, like with
Mixed Gender marriage. It would create a lot of work for Lawyers. In the
    event of death or Divorce.
This is exactly what Peter Hitchens talks about. Whenever a Public or
Showbiz figure. Says something that’s vaguely Conservative. They get over
scrutiny. Yet ultra Lib-tard morons. Like Russell Brand, can say all kinds
of moronic shit. And get away with it in checked.

I watch things like this when my mind drifts too deep into liberal
territory, so that when I see a bunch of sensitive pussies with incendiary
opinions I realize one can be “too liberal”. I mean, one whiff of slight
disagreement and you’re a new fucking Hitler? give me a break. You know
what they say… give them an inch and what do they expect next?

I think Jeremy’s just thinking out a thought experiment, admittedly not the
stage for it, but at the end he seems to snap back into the room when he
says “I don’t think sex matters at all, I don’t think what it’s called
    matters at all”

i dont comprehend…gay marriage = incest = marrying an animal??

  33. Peter Sinclair
    April 26, 2015 at 9:49 pm

Wow, he compared gay marriage to incest and bestiality, those are arguments
that I’d make to take the piss out of bigoted idiots, to show how stupid
they are, and here Jeremy is, making these arguments and actually being
serious. That takes a special kind of stupid. Also he shows how stupid he
really is by not even knowing what incest is, incest is incest whether
you’re gay or straight, if you have sex with or marry a family member,
    THAT’S INCEST!!!!

  34. 88feji

    Jeremy Irons,

    mmm …… what about ..

    — a father marrying his infertile/sterilised daughter ..

    — an infertile/sterilised father marrying his daughter ..

    — a mother marrying her adopted son

    — a father marrying his adopted daughter

    — an adopted brother marrying his adopted sister,

    — a person adopting an opposite sex orphan but wish to get married as soon
as the orphan reaches adulthood ..

so what about all these heterosexual non-inbreeding incest …. are you
prepared to accept them just because they are heterosexual ?

Where’s your fear of slippery slope for these heterosexaul cases then ?

What Jeremy is saying is Zen, basically. How can one oppose to a father
marrying his son but agree to a man marrying another man. If we’re to
define gay marriage as the legal right to be with someone of the same sex
whom they love, at its most fundamental level, then a father-son marriage
is equally legitimate too, at its most fundamental level. Jeremy Irons gets
it, while most like the interviewer, don’t.
