Coffee break: Compound brewing new research in colon, breast cancer

A compound in coffee has been found to be estrogenic in studies by Texas AgriLife Research scientists.

Though the studies have not been conducted to determine recommended consumption amounts, scientists say the compound, called trigonelline or “trig,” may be a factor in estrogen-dependent breast cancer but beneficial against colon cancer development.






AMA Joins Efforts to Repeal ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ and Voices Concerns Over Same-Sex Marriage Bans

The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, issued the following statement today on the American Medical Association’s (AMA) announcements regarding LGBT rights.  AMA members voted to join the effort to repeal the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy and declared that bans on same-sex marriage result in health disparities for LGBT couples and families.
